Happy Tails Canine Adventure Tours

David Blank has had dogs in his life for a long time. His dogs are so well trained - he's a dog trainer - that they drew much admiration when they accompanied him on the holiday tours he organised. When other people expressed the desire to be able to take their dogs on holiday too, David came up with the idea of Happy Tails Tours - vacations you and your dog can enjoy together.

In this interview David tells Julie about the Peaceful Paws tour, described as a canine/human spiritual adventure. He also shares how his dogs have shaped his life, and how they came to him in unconventional ways.

You can find out more about the tour at the Happy Tails Tours website, or you can phone David on +12626canine.

That's really where it came from - let's give everybody the opportunity to get out and explore the world with their dog.
 - David Blank

Snuffle mats and teeth cleaning

Snuffle mats are great distraction toys for tour dog. Basically, you hide food in them, and it takes the dog a little while - and some brain energy! - to work out where the food is and how to get it. This is something which is beneficial and enjoyable for dogs, and in this interview, Rachel Rodgers tells you everything you need to know.

Snuffle mats are a really great way of giving your dog an activity to keep them busy, and a different way of feeding them, because actually feeding dogs out of a bowl is a bit boring.
 - Rachel Rodgers

Rachel is the Head Coach at Dogs Trust's Dog School Shropshire, and she also talks to Julie about cleaning a dog's teeth. This is something many of us fail to do, but with Rachel's advice, it should be a much easier and pleasant process.

Here's a link to Dog School Shropshire's instructions to make your own Snuffle Mat. You can find your nearest Dogs Trust Dogs School at their website where you can also find a lot of other resources. If you're not in the UK, you can benefit from the excellent training approach of Dog School at their YouTube channel.

It's not a happy subject to consider, but we have episodes which can help guide you through pet estate planning, and also help you put plans in place to make sure your dog will be looked after if you die before your dog.
